ABOUT
Oscar Lenain, a bass player, producer, and improviser based in Naarm/Melbourne, found his passion for music while growing up on Wurundjeri Land in regional Victoria. Initially interested in producing and beat-making, he later fell in love with the bass guitar during high school.
In 2023, Oscar graduated with a Bachelor of Jazz and Improvisation from the University of Melbourne, where he studied under Australia's top improvisers. He has actively participated in various genre-spanning projects as a sideman over the past few years, touring and recording with bands such as PAPRIKA, LAZR Bees, and Convenience Store, while also pursuing his nu-jazz project, OGGY OGGY. Oscar also brings nearly 8 years of experience in the corporate music industry, serving as both a band leader and a sideman in pop and jazz.
Oscar was the musical director for the stage show "Reservoir Dogs," which featured an all-female cast at the Mountview Theatre in September 2022.
In 2025, Oscar became the managing director of Creative Ranges, a non-profit organisation focused on engaging and supporting youth arts in the Macedon Ranges. Additionally, Oscar released nearly a dozen projects with PAPRIKA, including several singles, an EP, a live project, and a music video. He played a key role not just as a bass player but also as a producer, receiving official cosigns from Triple J, Triple R, and PBS.
